Back to the Paintbrush

I used to paint, many years ago, before the computer came along. My fascination with the computer and all things "techie" has kept me involved for a long time now with digital artwork. but a couple weeks ago I saw some canvas and some paints and coupled with the fact that I really really really need to make some extra money, I thought, well, why not take up the brush again? I have been painting now for four days straight. Took on a real challenge today..painting a German Shepherd dog. I discovered a wonderful trick that somehow I just never realized. For years I have tried to paint dogs...but always had a bad time of it and finally gave up. But now, with the help of the computer...I have found the secret. I take a DIGITAL photo and keep it up on the computer and paint from the photo...somehow the digital image shows up those "hidden colors" that I just don't see in a regular photo. And so...Im working on it. Yesterday it took my only an hour and a half to capture the essence of my newfy. That's because I KNOW my newfy. So far today I have been painting for SIX hours and am finally getting close to finishing my German shepherd painting. I don't own a shepherd but my daughter does and this is going to be her birthday present. (Unless somebody wants to buy it first!) Let's fact it, right now, today, I am in a mercenary mood...needing money is a GREAT inspiration!
